We invite you to visit Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies to learn more about the admission process, student life, and the campus community.

Open Houses
One full day on-campus open house is held during the fall term (November 10, 2017), in addition to our campus visit program and many off-campus events we host. Opportunities will be given at these comprehensive events to interact with faculty, administration and current students. More information, including an RSVP form for on- and off-campus events, is available on our admission events website.

F&ES Masters Campus Visit Program
If you are unable to join us for our Fall On–Campus Open House and are planning a visit to New Haven, please join us for one of our F&ES Masters Information Sessions. Offered every other Monday throughout the semester, this is a great option to make the most of your time at F&ES. The program will begin at 10:00 am and will run approximately two hours. Attendees will learn about Admissions, Financial Aid, Academics, Student Life and the greater F&ES community. A tour will be provided, allowing individuals an opportunity to view the F&ES campus. Registration is required and can be found on the admissions events website.
* Please note that F&ES classes are not in session during the summer months

One-on-One Appointments
We strongly encourage prospective students to attend one of our scheduled on-campus Open Houses, regional information sessions or particiapte in our Campus Visit Program. If you are unable to attend one of these events, you are welcome to schedule an individual phone or on-campus appointment to speak with a member of the Admissions Team. In order to assure that an Admissions Officer is available to answer your questions, please contact our office to schedule an appointment, fesinfo@yale.edu or 800-825-0330. Office appointments are available Monday-Friday from 9: 00 am to 4:00 pm EST as schedules permit. Please note that Admissions Officer availability will greatly decrease from December 15 to March 31, so please plan accordingly. Additionally, the Admissions & Financial Aid Office observes all campus holidays, breaks and closures.

Sitting in on Class
If you will be planning a visit to New Haven, we encourage you to sit in on classes of interest. We have an Open Door policy in our classes but would suggest contacting the faculty member to assure that there are no tests being administered that day. Our classes are offered primarily on a Monday-Thursday daytime schedule; please consult the course schedule, http://environment.yale.edu/courses/2017-2018/all/  to begin planning your visit.

Tours
We are happy to arrange F&ES Campus tours for your visit to New Haven if you are visiting when we are not hosting an on-campus information session which already includes a tour. Please note that guided tours must be scheduled prior to your visit. Because the F&ES campus spans six buildings on Science Hill, there are multiple tour options at different lengths of time. Tours typically last 45-60 minutes. For tours of the complete Yale University campus, please contact the Yale Visitor Center.

While visiting…
We would like to suggest a few things to help you maximize your experience while visiting F&ES.

Faculty- please contact faculty that you would be interested in working with when you become a student at F&ES. Our faculty are fantastic and will do their best to schedule a time to discuss your future in the environment.

Current Students- seek them out! You may already know someone, find a Student Interest Group (SIG) that interests you, or contact  an Admissions Officer and we will gladly assist you. Our students are what make F&ES such a unique community and they are always happy to share their experiences with others.

Centers & Programs- consider contacting any that interest you!. The program directors and their staffs are always eager to speak with interested parties.

Speakers- please feel free to join any speaker series or presentations that are marked Public. In any given week, we may have up to a dozen speakers that you can choose from. You can access the school calendar here.

Lastly, if you have an opportunity, we would strongly suggest that you check out the New Haven area. We are a great “small” city, rich in culture located minutes from the Atlantic Ocean. New Haven is home to many great restaurants as well as museums and theaters and we encourage you to explore what the city has to offer.

Getting to New Haven
If you have never been to New Haven, we encourage you to explore our great city! New Haven is an incredibly diverse city that is home to wonderful food, arts, shopping and parks.

Yale University has a Visitors Gateway website that will help you plan how to get here, and what to do while you are here. If you need additional advice about your trip, the Office of Admissions staff will be happy to answer your questions.
