GPSCY Fundraiser: La Escuelita in Nicaruage

For all of you who wish something good would happen at GPSCY on a Saturday night…

Come out to GPSCY this Saturday (2/4) night to support the “little school” in Nicaragua where Yale nursing students travel annually to provide healthcare and health education. The money raised at this event will go directly to the school and it’s students: every year we supply La Escuelita with funding for their school lunches (the milk and multivitamin provided are a powerful incentive for parents to send their children to school) and for any follow-up care needed after we leave.

Nicaragua is the second poorest country in the western hemisphere (right behind Haiti), and many families live on $1-$2 per day. The healthcare we provide may be the only full health screening and preventative care these children will receive this year. Last year we saw over 120 children, many of whom suffered from asthma and pneumonia (from cooking on open fires indoors), parasites, nutritional problems from lack of food, and a variety of skin ailments from sleeping on dirt floors in their homes.

Cover is $5 (or as much as you’d like to donate!), which gives you access $2 well-drinks until 11pm, unlimited dancing, and a special Saturday night DJ appearance.
